Pregnancy care

We help women before, during and after pregnancy with antenatal and postnatal physiotherapy. We are also highly experienced treating women experiencing pregnancy loss or undergoing assisted reproductive procedures.

Prenatal (before birth) physiotherapy can include:

  • treatment of pelvic girdle pain by strengthening the pelvic floor and making postural adjustments

  • childbirth education including birthing classes, relaxation techniques, and stretches to help during childbirth

  • how to exercise safely during pregnancy

  • pelvic floor conditioning during pregnancy and in readiness for birthing and postnatally

  • treatment for back, tailbone, pelvic, hip, wrist and neck pain commonly associated with pregnancy

Postnatal (after birth) physiotherapy commonly includes:

  • rectus diastasis (abdominal separation) treatment to repair the abdominal wall and improve core activation post-pregnancy

  • pelvic floor recovery which will often be an concern

  • returning to exercise post-pregnancy to enjoy a healthy and fit lifestyle safely

  • caeserian section recovery

  • scar repair and connective tissue therapy

  • adjusting to postural changes due to larger breasts, changing weight distributions, and breastfeeding

  • prolapse support and care

  • perineal injury recovery

  • mastitis or blocked milk ducts

  • treatment for back, tailbone, pelvic, hip, wrist and neck pain commonly associated with pregnancy
